Glendon MacBurnie
Born into a rich musical tradition, Glendon MacBurnie is a talented singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, originally from Five Islands, Nova Scotia. Glendon’s musical career began at the age of twelve with the gift of a $50 bass guitar and a promise to his mother, Carolyn, that he would learn to play it. Playing bass came naturally, and soon he was performing with family members in a local Country Band, “The Fundy Five”. He soon felt the Rock n’Roll urge, and along with sister, Gleneida, his first Top Forty Band was formed. In 1983, after five years of touring the Atlantic Provinces, Glendon joined the well-known Halifax based “Broken Toys”, which marked the start of his professional career. Following a cross-Canada tour, Glendon joined the renowned “Robbie Rae Band” and toured the Toronto circuit. His next endeavour was writing and recording original songs with “Cerafim”, 1990 Gold Medal winners of “The American Dream Festival” in Las Vegas. After moving back to Nova Scotia in 1994, Glendon landed a job playing bass guitar on the self-titled CD, “Jonathan M”, produced by Steve Nagus of “SAGA” fame. Songwriting and recording became a priority in his life at this time and with the birth of his daughter, in 1999, a new interest in children’s music was realized. Glendon is presently working on original music projects in his home studio and playing live gigs around Halifax.
